Google's Tensor G3 Chip in Pixel 8 Redefines Mobile AI

Google has made big claims about its new Tensor G3 chipset, which is made by Samsung with 4 nanometer technology. The chipset comes with a nine-core CPU, consisting of one ARM Cortex-X3 core that clocks at 2.91 GHz, four Cortex-A715 cores that clock at 2.37 GHz and four Cortex-A510 cores that clock at 1.70 GHz . Google has paired it with Mali-G715 GPU. This chipset has LPDDR5X RAM, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, high-resolution cameras, and support for other smartphone technologies.

Even the top speed of the Google chip is clearly lower than competing solutions. Qualcomm's previous version Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 has a maximum frequency of 3.2 GHz. Google defends it by saying that its Tensor processor was never about "motions and feeds" or traditional performance metrics. Instead, it has tried to advance the "mobile computing experience".

This year, it has upgraded every major sub-system with Tensor G3. Along with the innovative ARM CPU, GPU, new ISP and imaging DSP, the chip also features Google's next-generation TPU (tensor processing unit) custom designed to run its AI models. The company says these improvements result in more efficient and powerful on-device generative A.I. Let's take steps in the direction.

Compared to the first-generation Tensor, which shipped with the Pixel 6, the Tensor G3-powered Pixel 8 can now run twice the number of on-device machine learning models. And these models are sometimes now. Those pixels help improve various aspects of the user experience. Google says that on-device generative A.I. Now the Pixel 7 is "150 times more complex" than the most complex model, but the new chip is up to the task.

Google has said that with this new chip it is stepping into a new era, which is in the direction of innovation in the field of mobile computing. They believe that rather than chip speed, their main goal is to improve the user experience and aspire to give a smartphone a lifeline.

With this new Tensor G3 chipset, Google has attempted to achieve a new height in smartphone technology, and approaches it with a broad and eclectic approach. Since this new chipset is Google's own development, it reflects their thoughtfulness and innovation, considering that it is important to improve not only the speed of technology, but also the user experience.
